I lived in Randfontein until I was 18 1982). My home ground was the Randfontein Sports Stadium which was obviously the influence of my love for sport. I lived with my grandparents, Corrie and Hilda van Zyl and my parents, Shelly and Thomas Maan. I attended Randfontein Primary and High School. Had a wonderful childhood filled with only positive memories. The best childhood ever! Live in Johannesburg

Wow it's great reading all about the old crowd from Randfontein. My family moved to Randfontein when I was 9 years old - 1959 - went to Randfontein Primary (remember the dreaded Mr. Powell?) and then on to Randfontein High (how I loved Mr. John van Houten!) and then Jan Viljoen. My sisters were Beryl and Pat - older than myself. And I have a younger brother Quintin. My love throughout primary and high school was athletics. I am still in contact with Lynne (Fell) and Brenda (Farndell) who were good friends of mine during my schooling years. I left Randfontein the end of 1965 to live in Durban where I met my husband Don years later. We now live in Umhlanga Rocks and we have 2 sons (36 and 33) one who is married and given us 3 grandsons! Great to read all the news.
