I came across this site by chance. I was delighted to recognize many names. My father owned Fitwell Outfitters on Main Street. We had a house on Village Street opposite the bowling green and the park. Diagonally across was the Plaza Bioscope, Pappas's Café, the new OK Bazaars ( which was built on the Randfontein Synagogue's old site). I went to Randfontein Primary School and then onto Krugersdorp (Kenmare) High School. My sister's name is Thelma, and my late brother's name was Norman. I now live in Clearwater, Florida, U.S.A. with my youngest daughter and my youngest granddaughter. I had 5 children and have 7 grandchildren and a great grandson. Some living in Netanya, Israel. thank you for this wonderful site.

I am looking for anyone remembering Donald, Sidney or Jean Berry who lived for many years in Randfontein. They departed in 1951 for the Copperbelt. Please leave a message for me on this site if you remember them. Thanks.

Is gebore in Krugersdorp, maar bly nou in Randfontein vir die laaste 8 jaar, en glo my ek sal nie terug Krugersdorp toe trek nie!
Randfontein is n cool dorpie, en lekker vir kinders om in groot te word!

Athough I cannot claim to have been born, schooled or own a business in Randfontein, I can say that as an Englishman I move there 6 years ago. I was not particularly drawn to Randfontein in anyway then, but wanted some 'space' for my wife (South African) and in-laws. We bought a small plot in Witfontein. Since that day and after spending time and money restoring old buildings, I have now called it my santuary. I live and work in the Middle East, and when I come home to Randfontein, my stresses and strains melt away. I am now forever to live in South Africa, and the British way of life can be kept by them. To all those that have posted remarks, and I have read everyone, I get the feeling that many are homesick for Randfontein....come back!
